My Experience with USPS Scheduled Pickup

USPS will pick up packages at your home as long as you have at least one Priority Mail package. This can be scheduled on-line up until 2am on the day of pick up.

I scheduled a pick up for yesterday because I had to work from home and the weather was supposed to be foul. The website said it would be picked up between 12 and 3 or something like that. I got an e-mail confirmation number and went to bed.

The next day, as I worked away on my computer I received an e-mail that my package had been picked up at 12:30. Impossible, as I'd requested the mailman ring the doorbell. It was raining and I didn't want to set my stuff out on the stoop. eBayers are picky about soggy goods.

So I called the 1-800 USPS number to rat out my fibbing postman. The customer service rep was REALLY upset! He said this is a big issue throughout the system and apologized profusely. I told him he was way more upset than I was LOL

Anyway he gave me the local office's number, I called and they resent the postman to get my stuff around 3pm. Easy Peasy.

This morning I received an e-mail apologizing for the postman and saying a supervisor would be by to pick up my stuff. Obviously they didn't realize it had already been picked up the day before.

Luckily I'd sold another four things overnight and it was snowing a lot! I packaged my stuff quickly, just in case and went back to work on my computer. Sure enough, a guy I'd never seen came by about an hour later asking if I had stuff to mail. I said YEP! handed over the new boxes and went back in my warm home.

This was awesome luck as all four things sold overnight so I hadn't been able to schedule a second pickup for today. With that kind of snowy, messy weather I was not going anywhere and had already e-mailed the buyers to say so.

I would definitely schedule a pick up again. I think it would be great for Saturdays, when I like to stick around home or days when I need to work from home. I don't know about scheduling for days when I'm not here since I don't trust them to pick up my stuff...yet.

I bring my packages to work and my friendly mailman takes them with him. Love it. He comes everyday and never complains. But the most I ever sent out was 5 things in one day.
