Do I even like Midcentury Furniture?

Ever see something so often in magazines and blogs you start appreciating it?  Not in a visceral, immediately bonding way but just in a "Everyone tells me this stuff is awesome and now its grown on me" kinda way.

Don't get me wrong - stuff like Barcelona & Bertoia chairs are awesome. I love some wood mixed with metal.

Some stuff I think I like just cause everyone tells me I like it.

Case in point - some furniture I saw during my last trip to the Salvation Army:

I must admit I can admire this but I typically only like white or espresso laminate.

See what I mean? Beautiful but I don't want to own it.

You know what I like most about mid-century stuff? It respects the need to clean under furniture. Whenever I buy stuff I try to make sure it has enough clearance to get under there and banish those bunnies.

I love them all! Especially that last piece! Unfortunately thrift stores seem to know it's popular now so they way overprice it. :(
