USPS upgrades service, I wait for the other shoe to drop

The USPS just made a bunch of improvements to their services without raising prices. Since they are always broke (remember when they wanted to cancel Saturday service?) I am betting rates go up in January as always. I bet its going to be a large jump since they are doing a pretty big rebranding:

  • Effective immediately, the delivery times for USPS Priority Mail service will be even faster: now just 1 to 3 business days—down from 2 to 3 business days
  • The Priority Mail logo has been updated across all Priority Mail shipping supplies.
  • Anything shipped Priority Mail service will now automatically receive $50 worth of free insurance
  • USPS Express Mail has been renamed Priority Mail Express and Express Mail International has been renamed Priority Mail Express International. Everything else about these services stays the same, including shipping times and rates.

Faster shipping times and free insurance? You may as well mail your holiday stuff now and avoid that price jump!
