Day 24 - Something you did as a child that other people remember you for

Turning faith unto those who taught it to me.

I was a precocious child and lived with my aunts, uncles and grandparents until I was almost 2. I was the only baby in the family and most of my aunts and uncles still lived at home so I received a lot of attention.

My grandparents say the rosary every night and by the time I came to the US to be with my parents I knew my Hail Marys and Our Father as well as a few other prayers by heart.

Their way of disciplining me was of saying Papa Dios (Grandfather God) was watching me.

I was also a gluttonous kid and already set in my retro ways. When they attempted to wean me off the bottle and unto cups I would tell them Grandfather God didn't like it when children had to drink from cups.

Similarly, Grandfather God only wanted me to go to bed when I wanted. He also liked it when I was taken to the park. He did not approve of my having to have my hair braided every day. He especially liked it when I hung out with my favorite aunt.

I used to love hearing these stories. Until I came to the US I was a very imaginative child. Some of it came back as an adult but for about twenty years in between I was as boring in my excuses and attempts at manipulation as paint on the wall.
