Tablescapes Here I Come!

So I checked out some tablescapes last week. One of this month's goals is to make the dining room pretty. I keep buying a ton of food preparation and presentation stuff.

Then I came home immediately after garage saling to company. Guess how and what I served? Dominos on my everyday white plates with soda cans. Not even glasses. Baby steps?

Insanely Cheap StuffGarage Sale #1
The people running this one must have needed parking meter change because they were practically giving everything away!

Desperate Housewives Season 1 dvd set
Mad Men Season 1 dvd set
Arrested Development Season 2 dvd set
Blue Fischer Price Chair
Musical Stacking Fischer price toy
Globe bouncy ball (Dominican Republic is labelled on it!)
Hallmark Wax Sealer in my A initial (Those rebate folk will never know what hit them!)
Total: $4 - Yes, for everything. No, I don't get it either.

I'm so happy to see you!Garage Sale #2
Placemat/Coaster/Napkins/Seashell Set $3
Perfect for our dining room! About a month ago I saw just the placemats for $10. I didn't buy them and have been kicking myself since. The placemats and coasters are backed with cork which my glass dining room table will appreciate cause its a grateful inanimate object. The kitchen table? Gets no coasters!

Hello Stuff I don't need!Garage Sale #3
Lace curtain I plan to chop up and use as frame mats
Large candle holder
4 Duck napkin holders (Don't laugh I may use them one day!)
Total: $1 for all 3

Pyrex HrmGarage Sale #4
2 Pyrex Bowls - I think I collect this stuff now
Total: $1 for both

More stuffGarage Sale #5
6 Glass plates - $2
Christmas Table Set (coasters, placemats, towel, apron, etc) - $2
Lazy Susan with glass centerpiece (spins quite nicely) - $2
Total: $6

Happy Time!Garage Sale #6
4 yards dark green textured fabric - $5
4 yards sheer green with flower pattern - $5
3 yards shiny flower fabric - $3.50
1 yard retro tree fabric - $1.50
Total: $15

I am so excited about the last sale! It was run by a woman in her 60s who used to sew custom drapes for about 40 years. Now she works outside the home and was selling off her cloth remnants. She was so helpful and we chatted for about a half hour about my failed ottoman recovering project, my throw pillows (finished just this week!) and sewing in general. She gave me the names of a few local schools who offer adult sewing classes and threw in some advice on fixing the ottoman and making curtains from my green fabric. I could have sat there all day and chatted but as I said above - I was expecting company!

I'm planning to take the shiny pink material to DR (when I visit my parents) and have someone make me a dress. The two levels of green are for my bedroom curtains. I'd been expecting to buy something blingier so I may embellish the dark green with beads or something. The retro fabric will probably end up as a runner on the dining room sideboard. The lady gave me advice on how to pin and sew the hem but...I may just glue on a trim to hide the unfinished edges and hope it never has to be washed.

Bonus Sunday Garage Sale #6
Normally I don't go to Sunday sales but this one wasn't around Saturday and was only a block from CVS.
Cable Modem
New cookie sheet
New meat thermometer
New spoon rest
Carved wood bowl
Mirrored tissue holder
Glass pot with lid (NOT Pyrex! Anchor Hocking for once)
Total: $23

You got some great buys!
Thanks for visitng. You asked where I got the stencils. That was a rubon that I used on the candle and a piece of scrapebook paper used on the little plaque with hooks, both of which was bought at Hobby Lobby @ 50% off.
