I love last week's silver table as much as the next Lover of Shiny Things but even after a few coats of shellac wasn't convinced of its durability. Cue Craigslist and this perfectly sized table with glass insert and two drawers!
I did the usual - painted it silver then sealed it. I slid more of the same fabric under the glass and sat back to admire.

One drawer is full of menus and coupons to local restaurants. The other is currently holding essentials: scissors, paper clips, post its, pens, etc. The boundary between office and kitchen is slim in this house.
I also cleaned up the dining room chandelier this week. I always forget to get before shots so here's one about midway:

It was originally a boring gold/bronze/tarnish/aged thing with offensively bland shades. I started rub and buffing the thing white and developped a(nother) blister so decided "
Screw It!" and just spray painted the cursed thing. I didn't touch the chain and since its a rental figure when move out time comes I'll spray it back to bronze and age it with black Rub n Buff or take the security deposit hit. In case its not obvious: I really, really hated this light fixture. Now I love it :D

I decided to keep the original "candlesticks" because they are the same color as the wall. The trim and ceiling is bright white so it works.

That silver table is great!! Your chandelier looks much better with the re-do. Hopefully, when you move out they won't even notice the change.

Awesome chandlier-paint makes such a huge difference! And I love the fabric too-beautiful!
Well, I took a second look at my chandelier in the dining room. Maybe a coat of paint would change it's look!!! Hmmmmmm Thanks for the idea.

wow, so cute! I love the chandelier...stunning!!
the table is soo cute!
I have seen this spray painting of light fixtures all over the blogosphere these last few weeks. I am going to just jump on that truck and put it in cruise control. I can't wait to try it. And I love that you just put in cutesy bulbs and nixed the shades. Brilliant!
You are right the chandlier is much better white. I'd leave it, I doubt the landlord will remember exactly what color the fixture was. Looks great!
Fabulous job on the table and chair! The chandelier is pretty, too.
