Inspiration Thursday: The Bookshelf Edition

I've been giggling my way through Your Design Pet Peeves at Apartment Therapy this week. I guess color coded bookshelves are a major faux pas these days. Sucks for the company that sells color coded books by the foot.

Usually only a shelf's back is covered so I love that this one has the sides and bottom too.The Expedit is in almost every home I visit these days - who doesn't love this piece?Faux-curtaining glass doors really classes it up. This would be a snap with a Billy bookcase.I have a weakness for slate grey and white. These floating shelves are just too pretty and practical. Ikea's floating lack sheves would be a shoe in to replicate this effect.If I ever have built-in shelves the inside is going slate grey just like this!As my books are currently on shelves inside a closet any actual bookshelves would just be filled with plants and knick knacks like this:I dig this color combination and really love patterned back walls - can you tell?This one is so simple and pretty - plus I have a veritable ton of fabric that looks exactly like those dots and was used all over my bedroom 2 households ago. I'm pretty sure this is Staple's default bookcase that goes on sale for $30 every other month.This one is super cute but not easily (possibly) replicated:Unless you're mighty handy with the miter this one is too fancy to be affordable but blastedly clever.On the opposite end of the spectrum we have this amaza-shelf. In the creator's own words: "i made it out of some televisions that i picked out of a dumpster and coffee table legs from the trash. i primed and painted everything, then bolted together the tv's and screwed on the legs. now it holds my undies, socks, shorts, etc." Ok, so technically its not a bookshelf but I'm including it anyway!
