Postage Hikes & Forever Stamps

Sad but TrueAccording to the chipper ladies at my post office, stamps are going up their yearly .02 on May 11th.

This year I'm buying Forever Stamps. For those of you not in the know, Forever Stamps go for whatever the current rate is (42 cents right now) but will always be sufficient postage for a one ounce letter. So I can use it now and have it be worth .42 or use it this summer and have it be worth .44 and next summer (probably) .46, ad infinitum (or until the roll runs out).

Of course for those considering investing in Forever Stamps - keep that money in a standard savings account. Apparently USPS' rate increases are always slower than standard inflation.

Who knew?
