Prepare to Laugh in 3, 2, 1...

I did not wear a mask like this
So I just got home from my first belly dancing class.
I'll wait for you to stop laughing.

It was way more of a workout than expected.
(Please stop laughing now.)

I figured soreness around my mid-region would be the worst part. Nope, my shoulders and calves are killing me! I didn't realize holding my arms in strange positions would affect my body so quickly. And my legs? Those big betrayers! I live on a second floor and run up and down these steps a few times a day. I didn't think an hour in a studio would hurt them.

The studio itself was lovely - lush curtains and deep beautiful colors coupled with candles. Everyone was around my age and quite friendly. New courses start in January so I'll be signing up as a full time student then. I can't wait to start reporting belly dance injuries *sigh*

I also got suckered into taking an intro to pole dancing class next week where I expect to hurt myself or the person next to me. My core strength was pretty decent back in my kickboxing days but after hearing too many stories of errant limbs hitting braces I'm staying away. There are other ways to tone a body!
