CNN's Usual Doomsday Schtick

I periodically drop by CNN Money and always regret it.

However Retail shakeout: 'Worst is yet to come' had this cheerful little tidbit: "Discounters Wal-Mart (WMT, Fortune 500), Target, Costco and drugstore chains CVS and Walgreens aren't threatened, he said. In fact, these sellers are benefiting as more cost-conscious consumers trade down to their lower-priced goods."

Huzzah! Lets hope next time they mention Rite Aid too!

On the downside: Holiday job picture not so jolly says stores are delaying and minimizing their holiday hiring. There was some kind of nebulous "back of my head" plan to get a holiday job in order to buy discounted housewares. I wonder if I should seriously look into that...
