Laundry Woes

I have a terrible admission to make.

I am a laundraphobic miscreant. Anyone who's seen my hamper overflow like a Horn of Crack knows what I mean.

There have been periods in my life where I have gone months without doing laundry. I wish the "s" at the end of that word were a cute allusion to a period lasting two months but no - I have gone up to three months without approaching the vicinity of a washer or dryer. Even more embarrassing is that in that period I have not run out of clean clothes to wear! Yes - that includes underwear and socks.

Back in college it was simpler; laundry could no longer be put off when I started showing in leather to Mythology class. These days, thanks to exercise and work, I need stricter laundry routines.

Unclutterer.Com has a great article on how to minimize laundry pain. Some of the ideas are rather extreme (like changing jobs to minimize clothing worn during a day) but some are pleasantly practical (before buying an item determine how much washing/ironing effort is required).

It makes a lot more sense than my "wear only one color until the hamper is full then do one huge load" inspiration of earlier aught 8. There's nothing cute about faking gothdom just as everyone else breaks out their spring dresses.
